  • Helping them identify careers they are interested in
  • Developing a program of study
  • Identifying the career options available to them, based on how far they take their education

The toolkit provides resources from several different websites for students, parents and counselors. The career planning tool kits includes:

  • Career Assessment Links that help you along with the students identify their career interests. Depending on your time limitation, you can use the quick assessment that only takes 5 minutes to complete or if you have no time limitation you can take as assessment as long as 40 minutes
  • Industry Sector Sheets that describe 8 different career sectors that La Puente Valley ROP offers.  The industry sector sheets also describe the career opportunities available in the sector. You can copy and distribute as the need arises.
  • Program of Study Sheet, to be used in conjunction with the industry sector sheets. These sheets provide the sequence of courses for a student to complete the program of study.

Counselors along with students who are interested in mapping out an educational path to their career goals will benefit. The tool kit helps students identify the courses that address their academic and career learning needs. La Puente Valley ROP's tool kit can even show students how they may earn college credit from Rio Hondo or Mt. SAC while they are still in high school.
